InterContinental Durrat Al Riyadh Resort & Spa by IHG Overview
When I first pulled up to the InterContinental Durrat Al Riyadh Resort & Spa by IHG, I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much from another business hotel in the capital. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s got that polished InterContinental feel without being stuffy, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to be there, which you know makes all the difference when you’re dealing with travel fatigue.
The resort sits in this interesting spot where you feel removed from the hustle of Riyadh but you’re not exactly in the middle of nowhere either. I mean, you’ll need a car or taxi to get around (which, let’s face it, you need everywhere in this city anyway), but there’s something refreshing about having that buffer zone. The spa is where this place really shines – I’m talking about proper relaxation, not just a fancy room with massage tables. They’ve got this whole wellness approach that feels authentic rather than just checking boxes for luxury amenities. The pool area becomes this little oasis where you can actually forget you’re in one of the world’s busiest capitals, especially in the evenings when the temperature drops and the lighting gets all moody.
What really won me over though was the attention to detail in the rooms. The beds are legitimately comfortable (not just Instagram-pretty), and whoever designed the bathrooms actually understood that travelers need space for their stuff. The air conditioning works properly – which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places mess this up in the Saudi heat. Food-wise, they’ve got options that go beyond the typical international hotel fare, and the breakfast spread is extensive without being overwhelming. I noticed they keep everything fresh throughout the morning, which tells you something about how they run operations. The 8.5 rating makes sense to me because while it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, it delivers on the fundamentals really well. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like a proper retreat than just a place to crash between meetings or sightseeing, this is worth considering – especially if you value having genuine downtime in a city that doesn’t always make that easy to find.

What could be improved: The pillows were not comfortable.Cheryl from Bahrain – 1 April 2025 (9/10)

I recently had the pleasure of staying Intercontinental, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, the staff provided exceptional hospitality, making me feel truly welcomed.
The Suite room was immaculate, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and the housekeeping service was top-notch.
The location was also a major highlight for those looking for relaxing stay away from traffic and do have lovely surrounding garden.
What could be improved: It’s was the room key when have to use the lift have to hold 5 seconds before could chose which floor to go to and the sound indicating the floor level was extremely loud so please get this adjusted – only concern we faced and was really annoying.Rebecca from Saudi Arabia – 26 February 2025 (9/10)

The resort meets international standards, and I was impressed by the cleanliness and facilities. I especially appreciated the outdoor and indoor swimming pools, which are accessible to women. I also enjoyed the mini-golf, paddle courts, kids’ club, and the good-quality food. The staff provided excellent service, and I would like to extend my special thanks to VIJAYKANTH for his outstanding hospitality. He took great care in arranging our room and ensuring we had an exceptional stay.
