Radisson Blu Hotel and Convention Center, Riyadh Minhal
About
Look, I'll be honest - when I first heard about the Radisson Blu Hotel and Convention Center, Riyadh Minhal, I wasn't sure what to expect from the location. The Minhal area isn't exactly where most tourists end up, but you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its biggest advantages. You're getting that proper four-star Radisson experience without the chaos of being right in the thick of things downtown.
The hotel itself feels surprisingly spacious - I mean, convention centers usually do, but they managed to make the guest areas feel welcoming rather than just... big and empty. The lobby has this modern Saudi aesthetic going on that doesn't feel forced, and honestly, the staff seemed genuinely happy to help rather than just going through the motions. Check-in was smooth, though if you're arriving during one of their big conference weeks, expect a bit more hustle and bustle around the main entrance. The rooms are what you'd expect from Radisson - clean, comfortable beds, decent Wi-Fi that actually works for video calls (tested it multiple times), and those little touches that show someone's paying attention to maintenance. The air conditioning is solid too, which trust me, you'll appreciate in Riyadh.
What I really liked was how the hotel sits in this sweet spot where you can still get around the city pretty easily, but you're not dealing with the constant traffic noise that plagues some of the more central hotels. The convention center aspect means they've got their logistics down pat - good parking situation, multiple entrances so you're not fighting crowds, and the restaurant actually stays open at reasonable hours. The breakfast spread is pretty comprehensive, and they seem to nail that balance between international options and local flavors without making either feel like an afterthought. I noticed they're particularly good with business travelers - lots of proper workspaces, reliable power outlets where you need them, and the kind of quiet atmosphere in the evenings that lets you actually get things done. The 8.7 rating makes sense when you experience it firsthand; it's not trying to be the flashiest place in the city, but it delivers consistently on the things that actually matter when you're staying somewhere for more than just a quick overnight stop.
Early hotels booking in Riyadh requires advance planning during peak business seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city's legendary hospitality, modern malls, and Saudi cultural attractions.
