Look, I'll be honest – when I first pulled up to Narcissus Riyadh Hotel & Spa, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The name had me curious (I mean, Narcissus?), but once you step inside, it actually makes perfect sense. This place is absolutely gorgeous in that polished, mirror-everywhere kind of way that somehow doesn't feel tacky.

The attention to detail in the marble work – honestly, I found myself running my hands along the columns because the craftsmanship is just that impressive. The spa, which is clearly the star attraction here, sprawls across what feels like half the building. I spent a good chunk of my afternoon there, and the hammam experience was incredible – they use these local oils that leave your skin feeling like silk for days afterward. The treatment rooms are these little sanctuaries with soundproofing so good you forget you're in the middle of Riyadh entirely.

What really sets this place apart though is how they've managed to create this bubble of tranquility without completely disconnecting you from the city. The rooftop area (which not everyone seems to know about – ask at the concierge) gives you these sweeping views of the cityscape that are particularly stunning around sunset. The staff here actually knows their stuff too, which isn't always a given even at five-star places. They directed me to some local spots I never would have found otherwise, including this tiny traditional coffee place about ten minutes away that serves the most incredible qahwa. The rooms themselves are spacious – I had one of the suites and could practically do laps around the sitting area. The bed situation is top-notch, and they've got this perfect balance with the air conditioning where you're not freezing but the desert heat stays firmly outside where it belongs. One small thing though – the Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty in some corners of the building, so if you're planning to work from your room, maybe mention that when you check in and they can sort you out with a better connection. The dining options are solid, particularly if you're into Middle Eastern cuisine with a modern twist, though I'd recommend venturing out into the city for at least a few meals because that's half the fun of being in Riyadh. With that 8.6 rating, this place has earned its reputation – it's the kind of hotel where you end up extending your stay just because leaving feels like too much work.
