Holiday Inn Riyadh Al Qasr, an IHG Hotel
About
When I first walked into Holiday Inn Riyadh Al Qasr, an IHG Hotel, I'll be honest – it felt like stepping into one of those reliable business hotels that actually gets the basics right. You know what I mean? Sometimes you just want a place that doesn't try too hard but delivers where it counts, and this four-star spot in Riyadh does exactly that.
The lobby has this polished marble feel without being intimidating, which I appreciated after dealing with the desert heat outside. What struck me most was how the staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions – they actually knew the neighborhood well enough to give decent restaurant recommendations beyond the usual tourist traps. The rooms themselves are what you'd expect from Holiday Inn's mid-range properties, but honestly, the air conditioning was powerful (crucial in Riyadh's climate), and the beds were comfortable enough that I didn't wake up with that stiff neck you sometimes get from hotel pillows. The bathrooms were clean and modern, though nothing fancy – just good, functional spaces with decent water pressure.
I spent a fair amount of time exploring the area around the hotel, and it's positioned in a way that makes sense if you're doing business in the city or want to experience Riyadh without being completely isolated from local life. There's actual Saudi culture happening nearby – not just the sanitized version you sometimes get in tourist areas. The breakfast buffet was surprisingly decent too, with a good mix of international options and some local dishes that didn't feel like afterthoughts. Parking was straightforward, which anyone who's driven in Riyadh will tell you isn't always a given. With a 7.2 rating, it sits in that sweet spot where expectations align with reality – it's not going to blow you away, but it won't disappoint either. I'd definitely consider staying here again, especially if I needed somewhere dependable without the premium price tag of the luxury chains.
