Holiday Inn Meydan, an IHG Hotel
About
You know what caught me off guard about the Holiday Inn Meydan, an IHG Hotel? It's actually way more polished than I expected from a Holiday Inn brand. I mean, this isn't your typical roadside chain hotel - there's something distinctly upscale about the whole operation that makes sense once you realize where you are in the city.
The location is honestly pretty sweet if you're into the whole modern Dubai scene. You're right in the heart of Meydan district, which - let me tell you - has transformed completely over the past few years. The famous racecourse is practically next door, so if you're visiting during racing season (roughly November through March), expect the energy levels to be through the roof. I stayed there during a quieter period in summer, and it was actually nice having the area to ourselves. The lobby has this sleek, contemporary vibe that screams "business traveler friendly," but honestly, it works for leisure guests too. Check-in was smooth - no complaints there - and the staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions.
What really impressed me was how they've managed to balance that familiar Holiday Inn reliability with something that feels more boutique-ish. The rooms are spacious by Dubai standards, and I appreciated little touches like the blackout curtains that actually work (crucial when you're dealing with jet lag and that intense Middle Eastern sun). The bathroom was surprisingly well-appointed - good water pressure, decent toiletries, none of that tiny-bottle nonsense. Noise levels were pretty manageable, though you might catch some traffic sounds if you're facing the main road. The air conditioning runs quietly, which is honestly a blessing in this climate. Parking wasn't an issue when I was there, but I'd imagine it gets trickier during race events or major conferences at the nearby venues. The pool area is decent - nothing spectacular, but it does the job and has enough shade options for different times of day. I found myself appreciating the hotel's understated approach; it doesn't try too hard to be flashy like some of the resort properties, but it delivers on the essentials really well. For a solid 4-star experience that won't break the bank but still feels properly Dubai-esque, this place hits the mark.
To book hotel in Riyadh during the famous Saudi National Day celebrations, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the capital attracts business travelers and cultural enthusiasts from around the world.
