Grand Plaza Hotel – Gulf Riyadh
About
Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect when I first pulled up to the Grand Plaza Hotel - Gulf Riyadh – you know how it is with hotel photos online versus reality. But this place actually surprised me in a good way. The lobby has this sort of understated elegance that feels genuinely welcoming rather than trying too hard to impress. What struck me immediately was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting things right, not just going through the motions you sometimes get at bigger chains.
The thing about staying in Riyadh is that you really want a place where you can decompress after dealing with the city's intensity, and this hotel gets that balance right. The rooms are spacious enough that you're not bumping into furniture every time you turn around – I mean, the beds are properly comfortable, not those rock-hard mattresses some places think pass for "firm support." The air conditioning works like it should (crucial during summer months, trust me), and the Wi-Fi is actually fast enough for video calls without wanting to throw your laptop across the room. I particularly appreciated the blackout curtains – they're heavy enough to block out the desert sun when you need to catch up on sleep.
What really won me over was the restaurant situation. Look, hotel dining can be hit or miss, but they've got this chef who clearly knows what he's doing with both international dishes and local flavors. The breakfast spread isn't just the usual sad continental affair – there's proper Arabic coffee that doesn't taste like it's been sitting around since yesterday, fresh pastries, and they do these excellent egg dishes to order. The pool area becomes this surprisingly peaceful spot in the evenings, away from the city noise, though it can get busy with families during weekends. Parking is straightforward, which honestly matters more than you'd think when you're navigating Riyadh traffic. With an 8.5 rating, you're looking at a solid four-star experience that doesn't oversell itself but delivers where it counts – comfortable rooms, reliable service, and that feeling like you've found a good base camp for exploring the city without breaking the bank.

Great
Everything
All good : Staff, food, GYM and Hygiene
The hotel is comfortable, cosy, tidy. The staff are friendly and welcoming at the front desk. We were also able to check out late, so it helped a lot with our flight schedule. The pool and sky view area is a nice addition as well as on-site gym. The room facilities are excellent.

You know what caught me off guard about شقة بغرفة نوم وصالة ذاتيه?
