About this stay

About

You know, when I first pulled up to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Riyadh - Al Muroj Business Gate, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect – the name's quite a mouthful, honestly. But once you get past that, this place actually has some real personality hiding behind its corporate facade. It sits in one of those newer business districts that's been popping up all over Riyadh, where everything feels fresh and purposeful, though I'll admit the surrounding area can feel a bit sterile if you're looking for traditional Saudi charm.

The lobby hits you with that signature DoubleTree cookie smell (they really do hand them out warm at check-in, which never gets old), but what caught my attention was how the design team managed to weave in some subtle Arabian touches without going overboard with the theme-park approach some hotels take. The staff – and this surprised me – actually seemed to know the neighborhood beyond just pointing you toward the nearest mall. When I asked about decent coffee that wasn't Starbucks, the concierge didn't hesitate to recommend a local spot two blocks over that I never would've found on my own. The rooms are solid four-star territory, nothing that'll blow your mind but definitely comfortable enough for longer stays. I mean, the beds are those Hilton standards that you either love or find too firm, and the shower pressure was honestly better than I expected. One thing that really worked for me was how quiet it stayed despite being in a business area – apparently the building's designed well enough that you don't hear much street noise, which in Riyadh is actually saying something.

What really sets this place apart, though, is its practical side. The business center actually functions properly (shocking, I know), parking is straightforward and free, and the location puts you close enough to the main commercial areas without being stuck in the chaos of downtown traffic. The pool area's decent if you need to decompress after meetings, though it gets crowded during weekend afternoons when local families drop by. The restaurant serves reliable international fare – nothing revolutionary, but they do a surprisingly good Arabic breakfast that's worth trying at least once. I'd probably rate my experience around a 7 out of 10, which honestly aligns pretty well with what other guests seem to think. It's the kind of place that handles the basics really well and throws in just enough extra touches to make you feel like you're getting your money's worth, especially if you're in town for business and want something dependable rather than adventurous.

GAZLA

I’ll be honest – when I first heard about GAZLA, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name doesn’t give much away, and you know how some hotels can be all flash with no substance.
