I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Aber Al Takhassusi, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a 3-star place. You know how it is with mid-range hotels, they can either surprise you or leave you wishing you’d splurged a bit more. But this one? It actually caught me off guard in the best way possible.

The thing that struck me right away was how the staff genuinely seemed to care about getting things right. Check-in was smooth (no awkward standing around while they figured out the computer system), and honestly, the lobby had this comfortable, lived-in feeling that didn’t try too hard to impress. I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on the basics and does them well. My room was clean – properly clean, not just surface-level tidy – and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. Sometimes you get lucky with hotel mattresses, and this was one of those times where I actually slept through the night without tossing around.

What really won me over, though, were the little details that show someone’s paying attention. The water pressure in the shower was excellent (you travelers know how hit-or-miss this can be), and they’d clearly invested in decent towels that didn’t feel like sandpaper. The air conditioning worked without sounding like a helicopter landing on the roof, which – let’s face it – is more than you can say for some places twice the price. I was also impressed by how quiet it stayed at night; the walls seem solid enough that you’re not listening to your neighbors’ entire phone conversations. The 8.6 rating makes complete sense once you stay there – it’s one of those places where everything just works the way it should, without any dramatic flourishes or disappointments. If you’re looking for somewhere reliable that won’t break the bank but also won’t leave you counting down the hours until checkout, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  One of the few hotels I've found in Riyadh that is right above a supermarket. No need to cross road or walk far. A lot of convenient eateries and cafe below the hotel too. Staff were all helpful and friendly.
